Purpose and North Star

Uncovering and understanding your business’s purpose isn’t just about having a mission statement; it’s about “why you do what you do” in your business. 

Using an in depth interview with you or your shareholders/co-owners/co-founders helps you discover WHY you establish your business in the first place. Unfortunately, many entrepreneurs that I have come across are not fully aware of the deeper motivation to why they established their business or even why they decided to quit a full time job as an employee to embark on the entrepreneur journey, in the first place.

Why is this important? Because, knowing your purpose helps you shape the culture, drives decisions, builds relationships, and helps your business stand out, grow, and thrive.

What about knowing our North Star?

A North Star in business refers to a guiding principle, mission, or vision that serves as the central, unchanging focus for a company. It is a clear, inspiring, and overarching goal or objective that aligns with the company’s purpose and helps navigate its strategic decisions. Just like a navigational North Star helps sailors steer through the night, a business’s North Star keeps the company on course, especially when facing challenges or uncertainty.

When you know your NORTH STAR (I refer to them as “THE EYES” but also known as VISION), it gets you a step (or even a few) closer to your PURPOSE (I refer to them as the “THE HEART”).

Only then, can the rest of the processes of MISSION (How do we get there-“THE FEET”) and what are the behaviours (the “CORE VALUES”) we need to achieve each MILESTONES to gradually move along the direction to realise our NORTH STAR.

Using bespoke and proven methodologies that combines various tools, Dr Mike will help you and your organization uncover its PURPOSE, NORTH STAR and work with your teams to chart the strategic directions over the next 3 to 5 years. All of these are done with a high degree of engagement and buy-ins from your team to ensure that they hold each other accountable to achieve the North Star later on.

A typical engagement runs over 3 to 6 months and will led by Dr Mike all the way with help from you-the owner and your leadership team.
